Appearing on 2 written pages. This is a James Simmons 1838 Watermark. It was customary to have a large sheet of paper with one half bearing the J Simmons 1838 watermark and the second half bearing a Britannia figurine watermark.

All 7 watermarks displayed in this section, found impregnated into the draft documents of the Treaty, have been hand transcribed by staff of Preservation Services of the New Zealand National Archives. These were graciously supplied, upon request, by Jonathan London, Head of Preservation Services.
